Tricks and Treats!
If the thought of things that go BUMP! in the night excites you…and if the idea of the boogeyman hiding under your bed thrills you…and if an all-day horror movie marathon sends you into a frightful frenzy, then a Halloween Birthday Party is the way to celebrate!  This monstrously good time will do the trick for teens (both boys and ghouls!) in search of the perfect birthday treat!

Sweet Treat!
Send guests an invite that’ll leave ‘em wanting more!  Cut out colorful construction paper or cardstock and make Candy Corn Invites!  Using orange, yellow and white, cut out each stripe and glue them to slightly overlap each other to form a candy corn!  In each section, include pertinent party particulars and let guests know that they’re in for many more sweet treats!  Add festive glitter around the edges for extra sweet sparkle!
Or make your guests batty with easy to make Bat Invitations!  Simply cut out bats from black construction paper and write all the party details on the bat using white crayon or colored pencil!  For added fun, outline the bat with a thin line of craft glue and sprinkle silver or black glitter around the edges!

If you think homemade invitations are a nightmare, creep on into Party City for Halloween Birthday Invitations that are a scream!

Setting the Scene
There’s no question that for a party like this, decorating is a must!  Party City has everything you need to haunt your house!  Include spider-webbing, black light bulbs and even a CD filled with spooky music to play when guys and ghouls arrive!  Stuff old clothes with straw, secure gruesome masks (or plastic skulls) for heads (with party hats, of course!) and sit scarecrows at the door to greet guests! Black and orange balloons also add a festive feel!

Devilishly Good Fun!
Try some of these spooky suggestions for a celebration that’ll have the place creepy-crawling with fun!

Be sure to tell guests to come dressed in costume!  From scary to sweet, the sky’s the limit!  Award prizes throughout the night for Most Creative, Most Gruesome, Funniest, etc.  Hand out cool awards – candy, costume jewelry and fun Halloween accessories – to the winners!  And remember to take a photo of the whole ghoulish group! There’s nothing like a Haunted Obstacle Corpse – uh, we mean course – to get guests in the spirit!  Turn your backyard into a haunted graveyard and send victims through a devilishly good course:  through Maniac Maze (a cornstalk maze), and under the Witch’s Hair (hang long strands of wet yarn)!  Use your imagination and make it as scary – or silly – as your mind can create!  Just be sure to give guests a good dose of the heebie jeebies! With a simple twist on traditional ghost stories, these tales are sure to get their bones chillin’!  With guests seated in a circle (in a room lit only by jack-o-lanterns or candles!), start guests off with the first two or three sentences of a ghost story.  Then, go around the circle, letting each guest add to the story.  Each person gets the same amount of time to contribute.  Be sure to record the story at it unfolds (with a small tape recorder) so that once the story is complete, guests can sit and listen to the scariest ghost story of all – the one they created! Go back to basics with a fun pumpkin carving contest!  Break guests up into teams and give each a large pumpkin to carve!  Purchase pumpkin carving kits for each team and don’t forget candles to light them (votive candles, tealights or jack o’ lantern candles work great!)!  If the Fall weather cooperates, decorate your backyard with Halloween lights, garlands – and even hay bails for seats – and bring the carving contest outdoors!  Provide hot chocolate and apple cider to keep the chill away and award fun prizes to the most creative carvers!

Goblin It Up!
Snack mixes, popcorn balls, warm donuts and hot apple cider make yummy treats!  Or set up a Candy Apple Bar and let guests make their own candy apples!  Supply apples, sticks, hot caramel and candy coating – and don’t forget the sweet sprinkles!  Roll sticky apples in crushed Oreos, chocolate sprinkles, graham cracker crumbs – and even chocolate chips!  They’ll all make great additions to your crunchy creations!

Make creepy-colored punches in blues and greens and call it Ghoul Aid – or Beetle Juice!

And visit www.wilton.com for tons of great cakes and Halloween treats that are simply bewitching!

Spooky Souvenirs
Send guests home with their Candy Apple Creations – or even the supplies to make them at home!  Inexpensive pumpkin carving kits make fun favors, too!  Or pick up DVDs of old horror movies (usually at bargain prices!) so guests can have a monstrously good movie marathon!

And don’t forget to visit Party City for Halloween Favors & Accessories that’ll have guests screaming with delight!

Show Your Ex-Scream Appreciation!
Let guys and ghouls know that they helped make your birthday frighteningly good with Ghoulish Group Thank Yous!  Send the photo from the party of the whole crowd dressed in costume!  Purchase inexpensive, plain acrylic frames and either decorate them or print a Halloween border from your computer and line the frame with it!  Slide the photo inside and express your appreciation on the back!

Or drop into Party City for Halloween Birthday Thank Yous that are so much fun, it’s scary!
